Scout-a-route Sweetheart Ride & Major Taylor Meetup
Rating: E-2
Length: 10.00miles
Sat, 02/11/2012 - 9:30am
Join Major Taylor Austin and the Scout-A-Route crew for a beginner-friendly and very social ride to celebrate Valentine's Day. The distance will be about 10 miles and the pace will be easy to accommodate those just getting back on the bike. A longer route will be offered for those looking for a few extra miles before our food stop.

This no-drop, co-ed group ride is perfect for the cyclist new to riding or bike commuting, returning to the bike or just looking for a more casual ride.  The routes are designed to help riders navigate the city bike routes and other safe bike commuting options.

Major Taylor Meetup Rides are a call out to cyclists of color to come network and help shape the Major Taylor Austin club in anticipation of a weekend of launch events in late February. Thank you for making this a popular Saturday morning ride.  In response, we are now hosting two groups for this ride.  The first group to depart is designed for those who can average 14-16mph for 20-30 miles with one or two regrouping points.  This group follows the same route but is provided with an extended mileage option.  The second group is our traditional Scout-a-route.  We average 12mph for distances between 15-25 miles with regrouping points.   Both rides are intended to explore, so leave your heart rate monitor at home, bring some spare dollars for the occasional refreshment stop and enjoy the view.   Today’s route:  A repeat of our Pedal Into the New Year route to Hoover's Soular Trailer with an added stop on our way back to Mellow Johnny's. A longer route will add some east side mileage before the trailer.
